Outsourced internal audit for a multi-office professional services firm

Partners sought independent assurance over billing, trust account handling, and IT access without establishing a full in-house internal audit department. We co-sourced the internal audit function under a three-year plan approved by the partnership board.

Year-one coverage prioritised client money reconciliations, time recording integrity, and privileged access to matter management systems. Testing combined walkthroughs, data analytics on write-offs and time write-downs, and surprise cash counts at branch offices.

Findings were graded by risk and tracked to remediation owners. Quarterly reports to the managing partner highlight open items, repeat themes, and control maturity scores by office.
