01

Audit & Assurance

The audit is one of the most important mechanisms in the governance of any organisation. An independent, well-conducted audit provides directors, shareholders, creditors, and regulators with reasonable assurance that an entity's financial statements present a true and fair view of its affairs.

At Joe Adinma & Co., we conduct statutory audits using a risk-based approach informed by International Standards on Auditing as adopted in Nigeria by the Financial Reporting Council. We form our opinions independently — on the basis of the evidence we gather, the controls we test, and the financial statements we examine.

Services in this area include

  • Statutory financial statement audits under ISA and CAMA 2020
  • Risk assessment and audit planning tailored to client size, sector, and complexity
  • Internal control evaluation and management letter reporting
  • Group audit coordination for entities with subsidiaries or related companies
  • Audit of NGOs and donor-funded organisations under applicable standards
  • Audit readiness assessments and pre-audit advisory
  • Review engagements and agreed-upon procedures

02

Tax Advisory & Compliance

The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 — which came into force on 1 January 2026 — represents the most significant restructuring of Nigeria's tax framework in a generation. The Federal Inland Revenue Service has been replaced by the Nigeria Revenue Service. The implications for most Nigerian businesses are material.

At Joe Adinma & Co., our tax practice is founded on a precise, well-documented approach to compliance. We do not prepare returns that we cannot defend. When we advise clients on a tax position, we advise on what the law says, not on what they would prefer it to say.

Services in this area include

  • Companies Income Tax (CIT) compliance and return preparation
  • Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance, including input VAT recovery under the NTA 2025
  • Withholding Tax (WHT) compliance under the WHT Regulations 2024
  • Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) compliance and payroll tax advisory
  • Petroleum Profits Tax (PPT) compliance for upstream and midstream operators
  • Development Levy computation and compliance
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) advisory — including the revised 30% corporate rate
  • NRS assessment response, formal objections, and negotiated resolution
  • Tax health checks and compliance reviews
  • Transfer pricing documentation and compliance advisory
  • Tax implications of corporate restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions

03

Forensic Accounting & Investigation

Financial irregularities within an organisation create a specific set of problems. They need to be investigated thoroughly and objectively. Their nature and quantum need to be established on the basis of evidence.

At Joe Adinma & Co., forensic accounting engagements are conducted with the same rigour we apply to our audit work — but with a sharper focus on identifying the specific transactions, patterns, and behaviours that constitute the irregularity under investigation. Our findings are supported by evidence, not inference.

Services in this area include

  • Investigation of suspected fraud, misappropriation, and financial misconduct
  • Employee misconduct investigations — cash handling, expense fraud, payroll irregularities
  • Vendor fraud and procurement irregularity investigations
  • Revenue leakage and unrecorded income investigations
  • Pre-litigation financial analysis and expert witness support
  • Quantification of financial loss for insurance and legal claims
  • Due diligence investigations for acquisitions and joint ventures
  • Reconstruction of accounting records from incomplete or destroyed source data

04

IFRS Financial Reporting

The preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards is a technical undertaking. It requires the correct identification and application of the relevant standards, the exercise of judgment in areas of estimation and uncertainty, and disclosures that communicate the substance of the entity's financial position and performance.

Joe Adinma & Co. provides this capacity externally, working closely with client management to produce statements that are accurate, well-disclosed, and defensible under scrutiny.

Services in this area include

  • Full IFRS financial statements for medium and large entities
  • IFRS for SMEs financial statements for qualifying smaller entities
  • First-time IFRS adoption (IFRS 1) — including opening balance sheet adjustments
  • IFRS 9 — classification and measurement of financial assets and liabilities, expected credit loss provisions
  • IFRS 15 — revenue recognition from contracts with customers, including long-term service contracts
  • IFRS 16 — lease accounting, including right-of-use asset recognition and lease liability measurement
  • IFRS 7 — financial instruments disclosure
  • Financial statements from incomplete records — bank statements, partial ledgers, and reconstructed data
  • Management accounts and internal reporting packs
  • Financial statement review and technical quality assurance
